Maintenance Manager

Purpose of the position is to coordinate maintenance staff to ensure machinery and equipment are operating and maintained

Role Responsibilities:

  • Management of Maintenance department to ensure optimum machine availability at all times

  • Effective utilizations of the plant preventative maintenance program for both the equipment and tooling used for the production process

  • Continuous improvement of process and machinery systems

  • Programming and upgrading PLCs, Robots and other software

  • Ensure full compliance with the OHS Act on site

  • Co-ordinate outsourcing of Safety, Contractors, and Cleaning function

  • Ensure continuous improvements and low cost mechanisms are implemented throughout the plant production processes

  • Ensure that all tooling used by production is in good working condition at all times and liaise with production / technical to ensure tooling preparation is completed timeously and in line with production schedule

  • Identify all tooling improvements and manage the tooling program to reduce tooling change over and times.

  • Installation of plant machinery and equipment as required

  • Building maintenance

  • Electrical reticulation

Minimum requirements:

  • NQF 4 qualification + Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Mechanical/Electrical Trade Test (NQF6)

  • 3 –5 years extensive supervisory experience in a maintenance / tooling environment as an engineer in the Automotive Industry

  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic knowledge

  • Siemens and Mitsubishi programing experience

  • KUKA & ABB robot programming experience

  • Safety device programming experience

  • Familiar with mechanical processes, spot welding, press plants, paint plants, toolroom& jigs

  • Preventative maintenance programs / packages / continuous improvement action plans

  • High Computer skills on databases, MS Office, and knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Software
