Production Manager

A Production Manager is required in Cape Town for a listed manufacturing group.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in either Engineering/Science or Production Management from a recognised Tertiary Institution


  • A post graduate Diploma or Degree in Business Administration/Business Management/Project Management will be an advantage.

  • Essential: 5 – 7 years progressive experience in Production Management within a manufacturing environment.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a managerial capacity in a manufacturing environment.

  • Computer literate (Microsoft office, Syspro).

  • Outstanding communication and people skills.

Performance Indicators:

  • Implementing strategies to ensure safe and efficient production operations, continuous improvement and delivering set quality standards on a consistent basis.

  • Delivering planned production to ensure products are manufactured on time and in full.

  • Plant Utilisation and waste control.

  • Coaching, training, motivating and guiding all senior production personnel.

  • Implementing and maintaining adherence to operating policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a safe, healthy and compliant operating environment for all people

  • Manage legal compliance.

  • Drive delivery of agreed production, operational targets and goals including, production volume, raw material usage, machine and process reliability, productivity and waste reduction.

  • Prepare and agree operational budgets and maintain production cost performance to achieve set budgets and targets.

  • Understand quality control reports to identify root cause of product defects and direct staff to take action to prevent reoccurrence hereby improving rejects, waste and rework rates.

  • Monitor operations and implement actions to ensure on time in full deliveries are achieved.

  • Develop and maintain a reliable, cost effective, preventative maintenance program to ensure all equipment is in good working condition.

  • Identify, coach and develop manufacturing and technical talent to grow the competency and manufacturing capability of our organisation.

  • Improve employee engagement and compliance with all legal and corporate policies and regulations relating to labour, quality, safety, health and the environment.
