Project Accounting Manager

This global leader is current seeking the services of a Project Accountant Manager to fill their 12 to 18 month contract.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will need the following requirements:

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required:



  • Minimum B.Com Honours or C.A.
    (S.A.) qualification.

  • CIMA Strategic Level advantageous.

  • Minimum 7 years’ strong project accounting experience, of which 3 years must be at management level in an automotive/manufacturing environment.

  • Business process improvement experience.


Functions/Responsibilities:



  • Full project finance management:


    • Inventory management – management of project WIP and raw material to ensure that they are accounted for correctly, all disposals are approved and management of the year end stock count.

    • Working capital management – assist in the development and implementation of working capital management tools in order to improve cash.
      Including monitoring of Working Capital KPIs at project level.

    • Invoicing – management of invoices to ensure that they are generated on time and are in line with the requirements of IFRS 15 revenue recognition standards.

    • Hours accounting management – calculation of the recovery rates, management of the timesheet process and management of the under or over recovery.

    • Project reporting – preparation and review of the monthly project status review pack to be discussed and reviewed at Executive level.

    • Project cost control – managing and reporting on project cost spending against the budget.

    • Ensure that revenue is measured and recognised in line with the accounting standards.


  • RBA Bids – preparation/review of the bids costing for Programme Managers presenting to Executive level, specification finance calculation and cash flow.

  • Ensure on time, accurate and complete reporting, e.g.
    monthly DPE reports, budgets, quarterly reports, quarterly QBPR reports, forecasts.

  • Forecast – monthly preparation of projects sales and margins forecast, weekly cash receipts forecast.

  • Monitoring and reporting on a monthly:


    • Research and Development projects;

    • Pre-contract spend contracts;

    • Status of Works Authorisations.


  • Annual budgeting preparations.

  • Maintenance of key KPI dashboards.

  • Debtors management.

  • Contract review packs financials are prepared accurately.

  • Drive automation to achieve efficiencies within the department.

  • Preparation of project reports as required by the Group.

  • Assist in the co-ordination of audits by both the Internal & External Auditors.

  • Reviewing of adhoc, weekly and monthly supplier payments.

  • Authorised banking signatory.

  • Effectively manage the team by recruiting, developing, and performance managing the team to ensure efficient human resources.

  • Performing adhoc investigations as requested by Supervisors

  • Procedure documents – implementation and improving current process.

  • Standing member of the Bid Evaluation Committee.

  • Stand-in for Manager: Project Accounting at other business unit when he/she is on leave.


Competences:



  • Advanced level in Excel and Powerpoint.

  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS, management accounting.

  • Deadline driven.

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills to work with cross functional teams to achieve results.

  • High levels of attention to detail and meticulous.

  • Work with limited supervision.

  • Ability to work independently and within the team.

  • Strong problem solving, analytical skills, numeracy skills.

  • Strong organisational skills.

  • Must have own transport.
    Essential, as overtime will be worked.
